In this dark comedy, celebrity blogger and author, Julia Emery, leads a charmed life until her fiancé jilts her a month before their wedding. Six months later, Julia ventures into the dating world, and into the arms of the gorgeous Nathan Lord. Shortly after their encounter, she wakes up feeling slightly dead. An appointment with her less-than-conventional doctor confirms that she has been infected with STZ: Sexually Transmitted Zombieism. Horrified, the woman who once lived for mani-pedi’s and celebrity mixers now finds that her morning shower causes her to decompose. Desperate for a cure, she teams up with undead friends, Lucy and Mary Beth, and the enigmatic Samantha, a biology whiz with a dark secret of her own, who works behind the scenes to find a way to stop her friends from deteriorating into brain-munching, walking-dead clichés. Together, this motley crew of Otherworlders must find a way to fit into a world that has a dark side; one where vampires, werecreatures, zombies hide in plain sight among humans. Julia yearns for her old life, but finds she can’t forget the one man who stirs her zombie heart, and reminds her that even dead girls need love.
The girl who once lived for mani-pedi’s and celebrity mixers is now desperate to keep her body parts actually “on” her body. Desperate for a cure, she teams up with undead friends, Lucy and Mary Beth, and the enigmatic Samantha, a biology whiz with a dark secret. Samantha works behind the scenes to find a way to stop her friends from deteriorating into brain-munching, walking dead clichés. Struggling to adjust to this new life seems like a tall order let alone trying to find love again, or more importantly, a way to fool the youth-and-beauty obsessed human world into believing she’s very much alive.
There’s never a dull moment in this darkly comedic adventure that has our heroine trying to solve a mysterious death one moment and rescuing her beloved dog, Gracie, from a ditzy vampire with a taste for canine kabobs, the next. Never far behind is the persistent Nathan, stirring her zombie heart, and reminding her that even dead girls need love.
